Antwerp central station

The train station of Antwerp

PIETROFOTO · TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY

Antwerpen-Centraal, often praised as one of the most beautiful railway stations in the world, is an architectural masterpiece located in the heart of Antwerp, Belgium. Built between 1895 and 1905, it was designed by architect Louis Delacenserie in an eclectic style that seamlessly blends Neo-Renaissance grander with Art Nouveau details.

The station is famous for its breathtaking, 75-meter-high iron and glass dome, often earning it the nickname Spoorwegkathedraal (“Railway Cathedral”). Its monumental waiting hall features stunning stone facades, intricate marble structures, and massive clock faces that transport visitors back to the golden age of rail travel. Renovation work completed in the 2000s modernized the hub into a multi-level station without losing its historic charm.

This photo gallery highlights the extraordinary play of light through the glass vault, the dramatic symmetry of the grand staircases, and the timeless elegance that makes Antwerp Central a dream destination for photography lovers.
