Hengifoss waterfall

Hengifoss waterfall is located in eastern Iceland. It is the third highest waterfall in Iceland, with a drop of approximately 128 meters.

One of Hengifoss’s distinctive features is the bands of red clay visible between the layers of black basalt along the canyon wall. This geological phenomenon is the result of ancient volcanic eruptions alternating with periods of inactivity, which created these colorful layers.
