The Baths of Doña María de Padilla are a famous underground room of the Real Alcázar of Seville, famous for its Gothic-Mudejar architecture and for the legends linked to the figure of María de Padilla, lover of King Pedro I of Castile.
It is actually a large aljibe, a rainwater cistern, built in the Almohad era between the 12th and 13th centuries, and later remodeled in subsequent centuries.
This space is known for being one of the coolest areas in the palace, with temperatures significantly lower than the outside during the Sevillian summer.
