Dynjandi waterfalls are undoubtedly the most beautiful waterfalls in the Westfjords of Iceland.

The name comes from their very distinctive shape; in Icelandic, the name actually means “bridal veil” due to their unique shape. These are truly impressive waterfalls, dropping a full 100 meters.

In addition to the main waterfall, there are also other smaller waterfalls that can be seen along the easy trail to the base of the main waterfall. The trail is uphill and not particularly difficult, but hiking shoes are recommended.

The waterfalls are located in the Westfjords of Iceland, an area not easily accessible. Due to snow and adverse weather conditions, they can only be visited during the summer months. It’s also highly recommended to rent a 4×4 vehicle, as the road to get there is very rough; although it’s not a category F road, it’s unpaved and requires extreme caution. Also, allow for additional travel time.
